The Executives’ Association of San Diego Highlights the Inspiring Journey of Member Willie Moore from Dana Logsdon Roofing & Solar.

The Executives’ Association of San Diego is proud to recognize the remarkable life and career of member Willie Moore, whose story is rooted in courage, resilience, and the cultural richness of his Hawaii upbringing.

Born on February 18, 1960, at Tipler Hospital in Hawaii, Willie spent his early childhood along the shores of ‘Ewa Beach. His father, John Moore, was a Pearl Harbor survivor who, at just 22 years old, courageously used his small tender boat to rescue fellow servicemen during the attack on Ford Island.

Willie’s mother was born on Lāna‘i to a Korean immigrant family and began working on the Dole Pineapple plantation at the age of nine. After moving to O‘ahu in 1940, she served as a live-in housekeeper for a well-known professional hula dancer, Mama May, and witnessed firsthand the Japanese planes flying overhead on December 7, 1941.

At six years old, Willie’s life took a dramatic turn when his family relocated to El Cajon, California. Adjusting from island life brought humorous challenges—Pidgin English placed him in special speech classes, and his barefoot habits prompted notes pinned to his shirt reminding him to keep his shoes on. These early experiences helped shape the grounded, adaptable person he would become.

Willie graduated from Granite Hills High School in 1978 and entered the roofing trade through the Roofer’s Union program at Mesa College. He later refined his skills at JP Witherow Roofing. During the 1980s, Willie coached in the La Mesa Pony League, leading several standout All-Star teams—including one memorable win against a young Aaron Boone, now manager of the New York Yankees.

In 2003, after National Linen Services was acquired and workplace conditions shifted, Willie received a well-timed call from Ralph Rader—just moments after opening a fortune cookie predicting good news from an employer. Ralph invited him to return to RC Young to oversee sales, marking the beginning of Willie’s long-standing relationship with The Executives’ Association of San Diego.

For the past nine years, Willie has been a valued team member at Dana Logsdon Roofing & Solar, bringing decades of industry expertise, leadership, and a genuine passion for people.

For the past nine years, Willie has brought his experience, warmth, and work ethic to Dana Logsdon Roofing & Solar.

Willie married his high school sweetheart, raised three wonderful children—Janelle, John, and Colleen then divorced.

A new chapter began when Willie met Carlee through a mutual friend. Carlee has been married for eight years. Through their marriage, Willie also gained a wonderful stepson, Cameron.
